The program tries to identify the default game file location and and picks a default backup file location under the users' documents folder. The backup locations are inĬ:\Users\Documents_SaveGameFiles, with the backups located in subfolders named after the game (Dark SoulsI/II/III). These can be overridden, although I do not know why you would want to override the main game location. It tries to automatically detect the location of the main game file and chooses a default location for the saves. You do not have to manually create either of these files. The second file is placed in the backup location, containing the file names and comments. The first contains information as to where the game file and back saves are currently located and resides in the same location as the utility. It keeps two simple text XML files, both automatically created and updated. You should simply copy the contents of the folder into another place where you can keep them until you’re done with the game.
